Voicemail 02:46
There are no lyrics for this song. The words used here are from a man that mistakenly left numerous voicemails on Dan’s phone between 2017-2018. To assume that they will ever hear this song, or even more unlikely, read this text would be foolish. But still, I would like to apologize for exploiting this private message for my own uses if it’s ever discovered. I’m truly sorry, and can only offer this as my defense. This voicemail was used because it’s one of the most sincere and simple examples of friendship I’ve ever heard. The kind of friendship this album was designed to mourn and celebrate. Okay, Charlie? …and now, “Darkness on the Edge of the Parking Lot” by Tyler Heaven.

Mongoose 02:06
At the speed of light on a bmx bike, I didn’t notice it getting warmer out. I was too busy thinking about the empty pegs. The tail is lighter now. Tyler never showed me how - he spins the handle bars in midair. I guess it probably seemed like I didn’t care.

Truce 03:06
When I hit the first deer, it wouldn’t have mattered where I steered. Swerving through both lanes, almost like my path was paved into the headlights glow and through its shadow. When I was in the clear, and its body had disappeared. I guessed it was okay. The grill fit back together either way. In the headlights glow we all become our shadows. But I can’t brace myself like that again.

Worry Melt 02:28
Now I know why I left in the first place. The trail went cold when I got off the highway. I never caught the tail I chased. I never got a look at it’s face. It’s hood I couldn’t place. It always seems that, no matter it’s shape, I always let the good worry waste. I couldn’t get it turned around before it’s coat would hit the ground. It sounds so funny now, but I never thought I’d hear the grim reaper say “when will the worry melt away.” I never thought I’d hear the grim reaper say “when will the worry melt away.”

Lincoln 02:08
It’s a long drive home without a radio. I hate the idea of you alone. Just wait right here, don’t go. I’ve got some CD’s you can borrow. For as long as I’ve known there’s a piece to miss I’ve flashed my brights for it. Just go slow. This time of year the deer are begging to get hit. And just do whatever keeps your eyes on the road.

Jetta 02:10
This is where the dream gets caught. Right before the blankets start to rot. And another twinge in the dowsing rod, pulls you back to the darkness on the edge of the parking lot. No matter where you go, it will always drag you home. This is where the engine knocks. Right before the cabin fills with exhaust. So you turn it off. It always makes you feel better when you let yourself cough. No matter where you go, you’ll always smell the smoke.

Church 02:51
Floating home ‘neith a buzzard halo. What’s circling the drain is closest in refrain. Everything changes for the worst or for the right. You’ll never stand in the same stream twice. If home is where you sleep, where am I? Where am I when I dream? Everything changes for the worst or for the right. You’ll never stand in the same stream twice.

Bat Halo 02:36
Couldn’t sleep with it flying around my dreams. I’m losing steam. I can’t keep drinking from leaks if nothing’s going to change your mind. When can I go home? I dreamt I was in my bed alone. But I should have known. You’re always underneath my nose and nothings going to change your mind.
9.
Plums 02:53
It got dark so quick. Almost as fast as you got sick. And no stray arms could catch you in the yard. A field of horses couldn’t rip you apart, but you’d still be stuck with your old man’s parts. Cody, you don’t have to leave. At least not for me. Breaking the rocks up and coughing your lungs shut. The dust is dancing in the light. What are we drinking tonight?

Tyler Heaven 02:26
You always know how to keep me off the breeze. If you have to go, you can piss in the leaves, but it won’t hide: The smell of chlorine in the air, The streaks of green in your hair. I’m on to you. You can turn the stone into just another hollowed rock without a key. Oh how you long for the AC, but it can’t hide: The smell of chlorine in the air, The streaks of green in your hair.
